The International Rogaining Federation calls for Expressions of Interest (EoI) to host 21st World Rogaining Championship in 2029.
Countries wishing to conduct the World Rogaining Championship (WRC) in 2029 must submit an Expression of Interest (EoI) that is in accordance with the guidelines contained in the attached document “Requirements for Expressions of Interest”. Any EoI has to be submitted by March 31, 2026.
World Rogaining Championships can only be conducted under the technical and organizational supervision of an IRF Member. However, it is not necessary that the WRC be conducted in the country of the IRF Member providing this supervision. The IRF strongly encourages:
- IRF Members to consider conducting WRCs in neighbouring countries who are not IRF Members but where quality rogaining terrain exists
- Rogaining groups from non-IRF Member countries to partner with an IRF Member to conduct a WRC in their country
- IRF Members to actively seek opportunities to partner with rogaining groups from non-IRF Member countries and support them to conduct a WRC
WRC Manager will consider all EoIs received and accept all those that meet the requirements set out in the “Requirements for Expressions of Interest” or ask an applicant to provide the missing information by 31 May 2026. If clarification on any element is necessary, the final EoI must be submitted by June 30, 2026.
The IRF has “WRC Ceremonies Guideline”, “World Rogaining Championships Host Policy” defining requirements for potential WRC Hosts. If required, please contact the WRC Manager for copies of these documents. One example of a previous successful Expressions of Interest is attached and others may also be obtained from the WRC Manager.
Any IRF member from any world region can submit an EoI by the above date (March 31). The IRF has a WRC Rotation Policy enabling regular rotation of WRC locations around the regions of the world, but the WRC Rotation Policy will be applied only in case there is a fully acceptable EoI from a country located in a region preferred for the given WRC. According to the current “WRC Rotation Policy” the “Europe” countries are preferred for WRC 2029.
A decision will be made mid-July 2026.
